ODIUM - The Church of the Tares

The Church of the Tares is the first Environment of the Game. It has been built by the damned souls themselves, as they try to get the attention of God, and to obtain redemption. The idea was to introduce the biblical aspect of the game, and to put the Archangel in the atmosphere within the first seconds.

The design was made in the same time as the production, and it's all made with 3ds max and UE4 with an interativ process to find the right way.
All the textures are procedurales, and the architecture is a mix of tileable and trimsheet textures, with some masks and additionnal normal maps to bring definition and sensation of details.
The lighting of this scene required a lot of attention, to keep the details and the noise with a decent amount, and to guide the player. It also helped to create the mood.
The statues are made by Sebastien Pierre, Lucile Fournié, and Paul Bellier.
All Fx work was made by Thibault Pasquer.
